RMD waived for 2020, but Qualified Charitable Distributions appreciated by charities like KSC
As part of the CARES Act relief package (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security), a provision that waives required minimum distributions (RMDs) for 2020 from retirement accounts was included.
You can still do a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) for 2020 even though your RMD is waived., however. QCDs still offer tax benefits, even though RMDs are not required. For more on this topic, go here: Thank you for considering KSC, a 501(c)(3), as your QCD choice!
