Koinonia Senior Care

Enriching the lives of homebound seniors and inviting our community to join us.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is…
to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously…
Romans 12:6-8

Here is an article on some “Gift Ideas for Seniors”

Each gift (below) has a story and most were made by or for seniors, giving them purpose and practical items to enjoy.

Santa Card:

At age 90, Edyce painted the original Santa and gave us permission to use this to make Christmas cards with. Edyce attended the weekly Bible study KSC hosts until her passing in December, 2019 at age 92.

Sack of Toys:

This sack is full of toys from the early days of our senior adults. They bring back memories and help them work on fine motor skills at the same time!

Christmas Mason Jars:

Seniors from the community, Oxford Grand and Oxford Villa helped make these mason jars that are beautiful with battery tea-lights in them or flower arrangements. Some have used them to put pens or candy canes in! The ideas are limitless!

Legacy Journal:

Interested in writing your story? KSC has this Legacy Journal to help you get started. It has 81 pages of prompts to get your wheels spinning, along with an oversized binder to expand for recipes and special papers.

Designed by Helen B.

Helen has always enjoyed sewing. When her mother passed away, she took some of her inheritance and purchased numerous bolts of fabric so she could sew to her hearts content.

When Helen met Koinonia Senior Care, she chose to make items that would be useful for homebound seniors and donate the proceeds to the ministry. Some of her creations include Adult Clothing Protectors, Walker Bags, and Rice Bags for the Blessing Gifts.

One of Helen’s greatest blessings is being able to serve with her dauther on the Koinonia Senior Care ministry team. They work together on many projects. Priceless!

Designs by Louise

Designs by Louise

Louise faithfully and lovingly cared for her sweet husband of 58 years who had dementia. Once a week volunteers would come in from her church and visit with her husband so she could attend Bible study. Another day each week volunteers came in for three hours so Louise could go visit and sew with her friends. These blocks of time gave Louise a chance to renew and refresh spiritually and socially.

One of Louise’s favorite Scripture verses is Romans 8:28 because it reminss her that whatever happens in life, the Lord uses it.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those how love him,

who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28
